Roureville 1

Rating: ♦♦♦♦

First of all, let me just say that this is a series that takes a very long time to get going. There’s a lot of characters to introduce and a lot of situations to set up before the actual story can take off. The first book in the series spends most of the time getting started. I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen once this series starts to pick up speed and take off.

We have Evan Pryce, a NYC journalist, who is a target after researching some unsavory characters, who gets assigned to a story that will take him far away from the city and out of harms way. He’s supposed to be covering ghost-sightings out in a town called Roureville. He’s not too pleased with this. He would much rather be in the city, but he’s going along with his editor’s wishes.

After many false leads, he finds Roureville. This town is odd. No one seems to want him there except for the odd Jayce, who invites Evan to come and stay with him. Odd things keep happening making Evan is now bound and determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Done by the same artist who brought us Not So Bad the art in Roureville is gorgeous. Very lush and stylized. It really fits with the slightly creepy tone of the story. I’m very much looking forward to seeing where they’re going to go with this story. Hopefully, it will pick up speed within the next few releases.
