Every once in a while you want a dose of sweetness and light. Stories that are warm, sweet and just put a grin on your face. It’s not my normal cup of tea, but this release fits the bill when I’m in the mood for simple and uncomplicated happiness.
This one is all about first loves and heartache. There’s the adrenaline rush of first falling for someone and then the let-down when there’s the thought that the feelings are not returned. We have school boys, salary-man, a novice magician and one very shy university student with glasses.
Happy endings abound, which made me a very happy girl. I wasn’t in the mood for an angst fest or stories that made me think, but at the same time left me feeling sad. I wanted boys in love and sweet moments, and I got exactly what I was looking for.
The artist, who I liked from her work in You and Harujion, continues with her sketchy style and endearing stories.
One of the nice things about reading a book that is so much sweetness and light is that when you do get to a moderately dirty bit, even something as innocuous as oral sex, it seems all the more dirty in contrast to the chaste kisses you’ve been reading about.
This is not going to be a book for those of you who want a smut-fest or who are fed up with sweet, school-boy stories. It is a book for curling up with when you’re cranky and just making yourself feel better.
