Fairytale Collection

Rating: ♦♦♦♦♦

Princes, faeries, magic kingdoms and lots of boysmut. Oh, be still, my heart. I think I’m in love!

First, we have the tale of a king whose kingdom has been at war with the kingdom of faerie for eons. The king of the human kingdom and the queen of faerie come to an agreement that will bring an end to the war and let the kingdoms coexist peacefully. To seal the deal the queen of faerie promises to send a bride for each of the king’s sons when they come of age.

Everything works out well for the two older princes. Once they reached manhood, the queen sent them an egg to care for. After a few weeks, the egg hatched to be a perfectly formed little princess. The princess then grew to be full-sized, married her prince and life was good and all that other happily-ever-after stuff.

Then came the youngest prince. Once he came of age, he got his egg, but instead of it hatching a princess, it hatched a perfectly formed little prince for him. Now, the prince was not too happy with this development, never having thought of a male as a potential mate before, so he convinces his little prince to masquerade as a female until he can figure out how to tell his family that the queen of faerie sent him a boy.

Now our little faerie prince goes along with playing as a female for a while, but eventually gets tired of pretending to be something he isn’t and goes back to faerie, leaving our poor confused human prince all alone. Don’t feel too bad for him though, you know that he’s going to end up living happily ever after.

There is so much to love in this collection of stories. All told in beautiful prose with gorgeous illustrations. You really couldn’t ask for anything more. I’m a fan of everything these two put out. I keep wanting them to produce more work so I can curl up into the worlds they create and let myself forget about real life for a little while.
